Product Overview: Industrial Grade Caustic Soda Flakes (NaOH)
Our premium Industrial Grade Caustic Soda Flakes (Sodium Hydroxide) represent the highest standard of solid alkali available for industrial use. Produced via the advanced ion-exchange membrane process, these white, translucent flakes boast a purity of ≥99%, ensuring minimal impurities like sodium chloride or sodium carbonate. This high purity translates to higher efficiency in chemical reactions and reduced waste in your production processes. The flake form offers a significant advantage in handling; it dissolves rapidly in water, allowing for precise concentration control in various applications such as water treatment, textile scouring and dyeing, paper pulping, and petroleum refining.
Purity Selection Guide: 96% vs. 99% Caustic Soda
Choosing the right grade is crucial for cost-efficiency and product quality.
- 99% Caustic Soda Flakes: This is the premium grade with very low salt content (<1% NaCl). It is ideal for industries requiring high precision and low impurity interference, such as pharmaceutical intermediates, fine chemicals, high-end textiles, and drinking water treatment. If your process is sensitive to chloride ions or requires a clear solution without precipitation, 99% is the mandatory choice.
- 96% Caustic Soda Flakes: This grade contains slightly higher impurities (mostly salt). It is a cost-effective alternative for heavy industries where extreme purity is not critical, such as wastewater neutralization, alumina production, or basic soap manufacturing. While cheaper, users must account for the lower active NaOH content and potential salt residue.
Safety Operation Specifications
Caustic soda is a strong corrosive substance (Class 8 Dangerous Goods). Strict safety protocols must be followed during handling:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Operators must wear chemical-resistant gloves, splash-proof goggles, and protective clothing to prevent skin burns. Dust masks are required to avoid respiratory irritation.
- Dissolving Precautions: When preparing a solution, always add the flakes slowly into cold water while stirring. Never add water to the flakes, as the exothermic reaction can cause boiling and splashing. Ensure adequate ventilation to dissipate heat and fumes.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep bags sealed tightly to prevent moisture absorption (deliquescence). strictly separate from acids, metals, and flammable materials.
